MULBARTON WORDS WEEK AGM 2020
After much discussion and with even greater regret the Mulbarton Words Week events planned for the 9th and 10th of October have been cancelled. The committee felt that the uncertainty surrounding Covid19 and safety requirements make planning too problematic.
Sadly Mulbarton Words Week will cease to exist unless enough new people step forward at the AGM at 7.30pm on 23 September. The existing committee will be stepping down.
The AGM will be conducted on Zoom. Anyone interested should email Chris Lansdowne (email@example.com) for details

MULBARTON WORDS WEEK _- CHAIR REPORT 2020
As most will have noticed 2020 has been something of an unusual year so far! As a result, our activity has been restricted to a just three quiz nights in the village hall at the start of the year.
Mulbarton Words Week has previously had 5 successful years that have brought dozens of authors, musicians, poets and drama performances to our village. We have been lucky enough, over the years, to have received grants from both the Parish Council and South Norfolk District Council but our main source of income has been from ticket sales and our monthly quiz nights.
Each year we have also funded visits to Mulbarton School by children's authors as part of our ambition to encourage a love of reading and writing in the next generation.
Most of the existing organising committee have been involved since we formed in 2014. Initially, we had planned not to hold Words Week in 2020 in order to give everyone a break and chance to recharge ourselves. Unfortunately, early in the year it became apparent that not all of us would be able to continue in 2021 with the level of commitment required to maintain the successes of the past. As a result the reluctant decision has been made that unless another group of people are willing to step forward to take up the reigns, (comma) Mulbarton Words Week will be wound up.
However, to end on a high, the Mulbarton Words Week are celebrating 50 years of Mulbarton School in its current buildings by purchasing 50 new books for the school library.
Finally, a special thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. We are proud of what we have achieved and proud that Mulbarton has shown itself capable of hosting these events.

TREASURERS REPORT - MULBARTON WORKS WEEK 2020
JUNE 2019 TO SEPTEMBER 2020
It was decided by the MWW Committee that we would not be producing any authors events or other entertainment during 2020. This would enable us to have a break, although by popular request we decided to still hold the monthly quiz nights. These were held from October 2019 until March 2020 and brought in revenue of approx. £337.00
Unfortunately other situations and the burden of conditions for events during the Covid crisis has led to the committee taking the decision to close any future MWW events. Therefore if any group would like to take over from us, please let Chris Lansdowne know.
Financially we have an amount of £1200 available, however we have to pay commitments to the school and other costs that come to the value of approx. £400.
Praise for Mulbarton Words week : “A week of something for everyone”. “A wonderfully mixed programme”. “Excellent and very original speakers”.
“I have a soft spot for Mulbarton” Louis de Bernieres.
